Gulf Breeze fishing guide

Gulf Breeze sits on the peninsula between Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound, with about 18 miles of waterfront and three protected bayous, and part of Gulf Islands National Seashore inside city limits. Inshore boats work the bay and the sound for redfish and speckled trout all year, nearshore trips run out Pensacola Pass for snapper, triggerfish, cobia and amberjack, and offshore boats chase mahi, wahoo and tuna. It is the launch point for a lot of Pensacola Beach charters, with public ramps on both the bay and the sound side.

Fishing Gulf Breeze, asked and answered

Where can I launch a boat in Gulf Breeze?

Shoreline Park South and Mariners Landing are city launches with a $10 daily launch pass, and Wayside Park sits at the foot of the Three Mile Bridge on Pensacola Bay. Bal Alex and Woodlawn Beach are free ramps. The Oriole Beach ramp is closed for a rebuild until about Feb. 20, 2027.

Can I keep speckled trout in February at Gulf Breeze?

No. Gulf Breeze is in FWC's Panhandle Region, where spotted seatrout harvest is closed in February and open March 1 through Jan. 31.

Is red snapper still open off Gulf Breeze?

For private boats, yes on set days: Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, weekends through November and December, Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends, and Jan. 1 to 4, 2027. The federal for-hire season closed Oct. 26, 2026.

Can I keep flounder in the fall?

Not from Oct. 15 through Nov. 30, when Florida closes flounder harvest. October is still a peak month to catch them, so release them during the closure.

What can I catch on a Gulf Breeze charter?

Inshore trips work Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound for redfish, speckled trout and flounder, nearshore trips fish reefs for snapper, triggerfish, cobia and amberjack, and offshore trips run to rigs and FADs for mahi, wahoo and tuna.

Where can I fish without a boat near Gulf Breeze?

The Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier at 41 Fort Pickens Rd. is about 10 minutes away and has a shop with bait, tackle and rental rods. Reds and sheepshead are caught around it in winter.
